Joy in the March Garden
It’s MARCH! I am so excited! Spring is here 🥳🌸.
This year, 2024, I am focusing on creating a Joyful Year. Finding joy in every month and every season. As part of this series every month has its own theme and focus.
For March the focus is:
My word of the month:
Trust
In the Garden:
Sow Seeds
The main thing I want you to think about in the garden this month is:
Sowing seeds
There are so many gorgeous seeds to sow!
If you want to see more, which seeds I have sowed and a ‘how-to’ have a look at my YouTube Channel ⬅️, I will cover that in my March Garden Video.
If you want to know more about the seeds I would recommend and how the word TRUST inspires me this March, you can book your seat at my March Garden Coaching by clicking here ⬅️
March’s Plants
For me one of the great joys of March is the blossoms emerging on the trees. But also:
CAMELLIAS
DAFFODILS
DAPHNE
IRIS RETICULATA
HYACINTH
TRUST
TRUST the journey, trust yourself, trust your experience, trust in the future, sow your seeds, trust in going slow, trust your kids.
This month is all about trust.
Trust as a Mum
I realised that I like slow, gentle, calm, little joy. I adore small, slow moments of joy. They are my momentum. They are my fuel. I know trust in the importance of those slow moments.
Like a lot of mums, I felt this weird mixture of unbelievable love and devotion to my babies and a loss of identity and a redefining of myself. Having children gave me the kick up the bum I needed to grow up. To move from who I thought I ‘should’ be (I thought I should be the Big Fun girl) to who I actually am (the gentle joy woman).
But along with becoming a mum, fun became harder to come by. Old, ‘big fun’ was out but what I really struggled with was what should replace it.
Gardening
Gardening became my answer. I am somewhat obsessed with gardening and the scope for gentle joy it provides. The little robin coming to say ‘hello’ or the bumble bee falling asleep in a foxglove in my garden - I adore it! I know trust myself enough to know that I can listen to the inner voice that tells me that that is who I really am and what I really want.
Gardening has made me the parent I want to be
It has helped me embrace the beauty and important of gentle joy. It has taught me that the slow, quiet moments, the seemingly insignificant moments are the big moments. It has taught me to trust.
Could-Do List
I want to encourage you to get out there into your garden at all times of the year.
To embrace the beauty of every season.
For me March is all about trust.
Have you thought about having a ‘yes’ day? What is it? A day where you say ‘yes’ to anything your kids want. It’s the ultimate form of trust!
Should I do a full post on that? Let me know!
